Hello! I’m sorry for the distance from actual language posts. I’ve been really busy between school and trying to get all the boring “adulty” stuff done (also the WiFi isnt very reliable at all). Here are some random words I’ve managed to add to my vocabulary by mostly just observing and experiencing the life here in Tokyo.

  • あたため (on the microwave) : heat

  • すくな (a jasmine tea bottle) : small amount; lower Ex: caffeine

  • ふく (in a department store) : clothes

  • せっけん (in the cleaning department of Daiso) : soap

  • ほっぺた (on the packaging of blush) : cheek

  • きって (in the park info center) : stamp

  • だめです。🙅‍♀️ (when I tried to ask for change for to much ¥) : Not possible.

  • やま (on a poster for Mt. Fuji) : mountain

  • くやくしょ (a place I had to go) : ward office

  • にゅうかん (yet another place I had to go) : immigration center

  • まち (some random sentence I translated) : city

  • えび🦐 (at CoCo Curry 🍛) : shrimp

  • かぎ (learned from my landlord) : key

  • こちらこそ。(replaced my slang “same”) : me too.

  • うけつけ (when I needed help in fancy buildings) : reception

  • えき (while entering the station) : station

  • ちず (while panicking at the station) : map

  • あつい (while dying of heat in school) : hot

  • まつり ( while in Ikebukuro during a dance 💃) : festival
